A man from Sweden got stuck 60 Days in Snow

A man from Sweden got stuck for two months inside his car that was totally covered with snow. He survived while sleeping inside the sleeping bag and eating/drinking snow.

The 44-year old’s life drastically changed – from living a seemingly normal life he suddenly set out from his home.

Yesterday he was found badly starved in his snow-covered car outside Umeå.

– He said he had not ate since December 19th, says Ebbe Nyberg, duty police officer.

Under circa 1 meter snow is the little forest road. All the way in, barely 2 kilometer from the E4 highway, by the turnaround there is a snow-covered car.

Up until Friday, a 44 year old man has lived in the car since the last two months.

Two scooter drivers discovered what they thought was a junkyard car – but they stopped and had a peek inside the car. Suddenly they saw something move inside.

They notified police and rescuer service.

”Was in very bad condition”

In the car the 44-year old man laid, tucked down in a sleeping bag.

He was starved and weak and lifted out of the car. With scooter and a tracked vehicle, he could then be saved from the place and taken to Norrland’s university hospital for specialist care.

The man did successfully attempt to speak a few sentences during the rescue operation.

– He said he had not ate since December 19, save for a little snow. He could talk a little, but he was in very bad condition, says Ebbe *Nyberg.

The police are saying that they don’t have reason to mistrust the mans own information, and means that several circumstances strengthen his horrifying story.

– The road has not been plowed through the winter and there are no footracks to, or from the *car, says Ebbe Nyberg.

Ate snow from the roof

The man has seemingly not been able to open the door enough to escape. However witnessing prints in the snow on the roof of the car, that he had been able to stick out his hand and grabbed a few fists of snow.

According to a source, the man may have survived that long thanks to the National Defense’s skinlotion and soft drink. In the car they have also found cigarettes and comic books.

The man who is from Mid-Sweden has seemingly lived a normal life with a job and a love interest. But under the last year something may have happened that changed this man’s life.

The debts started getting tighter and the rent tribunal decided that the man’s estate with rental apartments would be administrated. In December, when the man was missing, the district court set that the mans debts were at 1,6 million Swedish kronor. ($237,120?)

– He had a girlfriend, but it ended. And then he also got problems with paying his own insurances and rent, says a person who knows the man.

Not met for 20 years

The man was according to the police not reported as missing and said himself that he has not had any contact with relatives. The man’s father himself confirms that to Aftonbladet.

– I don’t know about anything that has happened to him. I have not seen him for 20 years. He ceased contact with the whole family 20 years ago.

Why the man was on the isolated turnaround in the middle of the forest is a mystery for the police.

– We don’t know why he parked his car there, or what he was going to do, says Ebbe Nyberg.
