German President Christian Wulff, Friday resigned from office, his name being involved in a corruption scandal. Wulff calls for his resignation have intensified lately, and Prosecution of Hanover said Thursday it asked the presidential immunity.
“After an exhaustive review of new documents and evaluation of press articles, the floor of Hanover estimates that there are sufficient facts for suspected violations of law or taking advantage of” Wulff’s, said in a statement Lower Saxony’s capital floor .
Wulff is criticized from mid-December the German press who alleged that she took advantage of his position as head of government of Lower Saxony to obtain various financial benefits, then trying to hide the business.
German President was roundly attacked for having hidden a loan, took advantage of free holiday from wealthy businessmen, and then for trying to put pressure on journalists in order to prevent disclosure.
In Germany, the main feature is honorary president, but it is a moral authority.
